Description
Eileen Dakta, the General Manager of River Runners asks, "Have you been white water rafting in Colorado yet?" And for good reason, Colorado offers some of the greatest river rafting in the whole world. First, the Arkansas River, which is the most popular river for whitewater rafting in the U.S.; it is a State Park with 148 miles of rafting and offers something for everyone at every rafting skill level. Viewers are advised to gear up with a licensed outfitter; then the key questions to ask before choosing an outfitter are outlined. Footage highlights include Pine Creek Rapids, Numbers, Browns Canyon, Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Royal Gorge and the Royal Gorge Bridge, the highest suspension bridge in the world; also we visit FIBArk, the oldest whitewater festival in the country, which takes place in Salida; we view incredible freestyle kayaking; then delight in the Hooligan Race. Next, the 5-day, 72-mile journey on the free flowing Yampa River takes you through the heart of the famous Dinosaur National Monument to view incredible canyons; it also includes the exciting Warm Springs Rapids. Then we journey as John Wesley Powell did in 1869, exploring the Gates of Ladore on a 4-day, 44-mile trip on the Green River into Utah. Lastly, just north of Gunnison National Park, we take in the sites of a 3-day, 9-mile journey through Gunnison Gorge and Black Canyon on the Gunnison River.
