Description
"Told through the eyes of a very grumpy yet lovable mutt, a funny and touching tale of aging, death, friendship, and life that proves sometimes a dog's story is the most human of all."--book jacket.
Description
"Everything started when my owner, Major, died, and I wasn't invited to the funeral. We dogs are known for burying things, mostly dead things. Naturally I assumed I'd get the honor of digging a suitable hole for Major's body but on that day Major's wife, Mrs. Thorkildsen, just told me 'stay' and shut the front door. So that was that. I've always been a one-man dog, but life with Mrs. T isn't so bad. I eat her leftover hamburger, and she's been telling me the story of how a pack of Greenland dogs beat the British and led Roald Amundsen to the South Pole. But recently, Mrs. T has been acting weird and forgetting things she used to remember. And I know her nosy daughter-in-law is scheming to send her to a nursing home and take our house. If Mrs. T's gone, what's going to happen to me? While Mrs. T and I will probably never make it to the South Pole, this overgrown lapdog and his retired librarian sidekick have still got some fighting spirit left in them."--book jacket.
